When in Geneva make sure you join one of the guided tours offered at CERN. Our tour included the very first accelerator (from 1957) and the CMS Experiment (the big machine behind me), one of four on the Large Hadron Collider. The tours were led by scientist but were easy to understand with just your normal school knowledge. Absolutely loved it. And best of all: it was free. On our Iceland road trip today, we diverted off State Highway 1 onto the road to Sauðárkrókur and Glaumbær. We are glad we did as we came across an old turf farm and two 19th century timber houses.
