For years, I have tried to make our living room more welcoming for guests and family, and adding a bar cart might be precisely what we need. So I bought one! My approach to styling the bar cart assumes we will use it, so I needed to leave space on the top shelf to mix drinks! As much as I would like it to look pretty all the time, this is a rare time when function is just as important as fashion! Join me on the blog to see what I did with our new bar cart. We hosted our dinner club, and to make it easy, I served a potluck. Today, I am sharing some of my favorite potluck recipes. How do you serve a potluck for a dinner party? Since most of my time was spent setting up the table in our backyard, I knew my cooking time was limited. So I made the two main dishes, and everyone else brought the rest. My guests even asked if I could provide them with my favorite potluck recipes to prepare. I have a lot of clever ideas for hosting a potluck dinner. It wasn’t until I wrote the title of this blog post that I realized I had a linen “collection.” Actually, I think I have a linen hoarding problem. I realized I had a linen collection/hoarding problem when I took all my linens from our butler’s pantry and counted over 200 cloth cocktail napkins. That is pretty ridiculous. I think that these linens were secretly multiplying behind my back. I certainly couldn’t ever have bought this many cocktail napkins ... right? Think again Leslie. Join me on the blog for more about my linen “situation”. Comment LINEN411 below and I will DM you a link to my blog. https://my100yearoldhome.com/organizing-my-linen-collection/

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have rented tables for a dinner party. Even for a party of 12 or 16! Then I came up with an idea to make two wood table tops that would fit snugly on top of two plastic folded tables. I made the table tops a lot bigger, out of wood that didn’t need a tablecloth, and a size that when put together they would make a square table that could fit 16! This just might be one of my best ideas ever. Today on the blog I shared how to make them! Comment TABLE409 below and I will DM you a link to my blog. https://my100yearoldhome.com/how-to-make-my-wood-table-tops-2/

Then I stitched the detail on my sewing machine using free motion embroidery. Free motion machine embroidery is a type of sewing that you do on a regular sewing machine The free-motion quilting foot, sometimes called a darning foot, is designed so that the sewing machine needle passes through a small ring on the foot. What You Need to Make a Free Motion Embroidery Pillow Pillow cover (I used the Gurli 20″ cover from Ikea)
