Hiking to the village of Jagdhausalm in Austria 🏔 To really get up into the mountains and experience alpine life while in the Defereggen Valley, you can't miss the hike to Jagdhausalm. This tiny village of just 16 houses hidden within mountain pastures has long been involved in the seasonal cattle migration from Italy up into Austria to graze. To reach the village, visitors can either hike or cycle their way up valleys branching off the Defereggen Valley along an icy river. We did the hike, which starts out in forest, transitions into a flat valley floor, before heading up into more steep terrain. #austria #feelaustria #visitaustria #loves_austria #discovereurope #travel #traveladventures #travelsewhere #alps #neverstopexploring #nikonphotography

Alpine beauty of the Defereggen Valley of Austria 🌄 Way up in the mountains by the Italian border lies the wonderfully scenic Austrian valley of Defereggental. While the pass between the two countries is relatively popular with people passing through, you really ought to stop to take a look around in places like St Jakob in Defereggen. There you can stare dreamily at views of the valley like the one from our guesthouse, as well as admire the power of the Maria Hilf Waterfall tucked into the forest on the far side of the river. #visitaustria #austria #feelaustria #europe #discovereurope #travel #travelsewhere #nikonphotography #traveladventures #neverstopexploring #defereggental #loves_austria

More Places to Visit Along the Danube River in Austria 🏞 The Danube River is a defining feature of northern Austria and tourists are no strangers to its charms. For ages though I underestimated how many places there were to visit along it, thinking only of popular destinations like Vienna and Melk. But one road trip changed that, as I soon saw so much more, with places like: 🏞 Weißenkirchen, another town in the Wachau with vineyards and character 🏞 Grein, home to Castle Greinburg and its ivy arches 🏞 Burg Clam, a lonely forest castle with a mish-mash of additions 🏞 Maria Taferl, one of the best places for views along the Danube 🏞 Enns, a town centered on a super distinctive clocktower #austria #discoveraustria #discovereurope #loves_austria #visitaustria #feelaustria #travel #nikon #travelblogger #traveladventures #travelsewhere #neverstopexploring

Best neighbourhoods in Tallinn to explore outside the Old Town 🏘 When people visit Tallinn, the city's historical centre is the main draw and it's easy to see why. But when you have more time there, you're definitely going to want to look beyond it, as Tallinn has so much more to offer. Great areas to explore include: 🏘 Kadriorg, home to Kadriorg Palace, parks, and museums 🏘 Rotermann Quarter, creative modern architecture on converted old factory buildings 🏘 Kalamaja, former working class area lined with old wooden houses 🏘 Telliskivi Creative City, with art galleries, studios, cafes and bars #estonia #visitestonia #tallinn #visittallinn #baltic #travel #traveladventures #neverstopexploring #discoverearth #nikon #travelsewhere #travelblogger

Pakri Peninsula, a day trip from Tallinn you may not know 🐚 Curious to visit somewhere I'd only heard snippets about, I used one of my days in Tallinn to take the train to the town of Paldiski at the end of the line. Paldiski used to be part of a Soviet naval base and its scenery doesn't stand out too much, but the nearby Parki Peninsula is another story. Narrow walking trails follow the coast of the Pakri Peninsula, taking you through overgrown fields and past old Soviet bunkers. But the cliffs are the real star of the show here, crumbling into the sea and creating multi-coloured shale beaches beneath them. #visitestonia #estonia #baltic #travel #traveladventures #neverstopexploring #discoverearth #nikonphotography #travelsewhere #pakri #travelblogger

Adding Viljandi to your Estonia trip 🌿 Visiting Estonia is just as much about its nature as it is history and culture, and with the central town of Viljandi you get all of that with equal measure. In Viljandi, old fashioned homes line open cobblestone streets and a crumbling castle ruin serves as an outdoor concert venue. But then there's the town's parks and lake that make it easy to go somewhere peaceful (not that Viljandi is a bustling kind of place anyway). Viljandi is exactly the kind of place that rewards tourists who make the effort to travel beyond a country's star attractions and is a great example of why love exploring the Baltic states when I get the chance. #visitestonia #estonia #travel #traveladventures #neverstopexploring #viljandi #baltic #travelsewhere #travelblogger #travelphotography #nature #discovereurope #nikoncamera

What to do with one day in Narva, Estonia 🏰 Another stop on my Estonia trip and another castle. This time in the city of Narva, right up against the Russian border. The Narva River divides the two countries, with Narva Castle on the Estonian side and Ivangorod Fortress on the Russian one. It always feel weird being so close to another country and knowing you can't simply wander over there. Sticking to the Estonia side, you can easily fill a day with: 🏰 visiting Narva Castle and its tower 🏰 walking the riverfront and the overlooking bastion 🏰 finding the Town Hall, one of the few remaining historical buildings in the city 🏰 going in search of some the churches that dot the city's skyline #visitestonia #narva #travel #traveladventures #estonia #discovereurope #baltic #travelphotography #travelingthroughtheworld #travelsewhere #neverstopexploring

Visiting the scenic town of Rakvere in Estonia 🏘 My plans in Estonia revolved around traveling to different parts of the country I hadn't seen before, particularly the country's east and once I knew there was a castle in Rakvere, there was little doubt I was going to visit. Rakvere. one of the oldest towns in Estonia, has a rather eclectic bunch of attractions for visitors, including: 🏘 its medieval castle that's a bit of a theme park nowadays 🏘 interesting 20th century architecture in the town center 🏘 a highly popular indoor spa center/water park 🏘 plenty of parks, including one with a cemetery for German WWII soldiers #visitestonia #estonia #rakvere #travel #traveladventures #travelphotography #neverstopexploring #travelsewhere #travelblogger

A day trip to Lahemaa National Park from Tallinn 🌲 The forest and bogs of Lahemaa east of Tallinn are a common day trip from the capital for those seeking to see Estonia's natural side. What I wanted to find out was how doable a day trip was without relying on a tour and guide. The end result involved a lot of walking and several bus trips, but I was delighted with how much I managed to see. Over the day I managed to: 🌲visit the seaside village of Käsmu 🌲walk the coastal trails to the Vana-Jüri Rocks 🌲roam the boardwalks of the Viru Bog 🌲navigate the forest trails to Kolga Manor For advice on doing it yourself, see the detailed blog post on my website. #lahemaa #visitestonia #estonia #nature #travelsewhere #traveladventures #travelphotography #neverstopexploring #discovereurope #travelingtheworld

Sightseeing in the Old Town of Tallinn 🏰 My last trip in Europe before moving back to Australia was to Estonia, giving me plenty of time to re-explore the historical centre of Tallinn. Rain had really damped my mood the first time I visited the Estonian capital, so I was determined to do it justice second-time around and I feel like I covered every square inch of this captivating place over several days. Places not to be missed when sightseeing in the Tallinn Old Town: 🏰 the fortifications that divide the Upper and Lower towns 🏰 Katariina Lane, with its medieval feel 🏰 obviously the Old Town Square, and be sure to try the soup served III Draakon #visitestonia #tallinn #estonia #europe #discovereurope #traveladventures #travelphotography #travellingthroughtheworld #travelsewhere #neverstopexploring

Hiking to the top of Mount Roland 🏔 It's hard not to notice the sudden cliffs of Mount Roland when traveling through northern Tasmania, especially when heading past Sheffield to Cradle Mountain. It wasn't until the end of my time in Tasmania in 2021 that I finally made time to hike up the mountain and it sure was a rewarding experience. The terrain changes multiple times as you go, from forest to highland scrub, and the path devolves into broken rock paths that are often flooded. It's challenging, but in the fun kind of way! Even the way to the summit is hard to discern, with a bit of a scramble to reach it. That said, the considerable full-day hike is worth it for the views you get up there, as they even offer a unique vantage point of distant Cradle Mountain. A truly special, yet surprisingly accessible hike that way too many visitors to Tasmania overlook. Blog post incoming with more details! #tasmania #discovertasmania #seeaustralia #hiking #mountroland #travelsewhere #traveladventures #travelphotography #tourismaustralia #neverstopexploring

Walking the Two Bays Track from Cape Schanck to Bushrangers Bay 👣 Victoria's Mornington Peninsula is full of beaches and places to visit, but one I'd never been to before was Cape Schanck out on its very southern tip. Just before Christmas I drove down for the day, and after a quick look around the historic lighthouse there, took to the walking trail that hugged the coast out to the small beach and rocks at Bushrangers Bay (45 minutes each way) . Thoughts on the walk: 👣 not too challenging for the most part, with the hardest part being the long run of stairs leading up from the beach 👣 thick trees along the trail mean there isn't much of a view unfortunately 👣 best views are from down on the beach and up at Signal Tower Hill #seeAustralia #visitVictoria #travelsewhere #travel #morningtonpeninsula #outdoors #traveladdict #traveladventures

A long weekend down in the Otways and on the Great Ocean Road 🌊 Victoria's surf coast is always a popular place to visit in summer, but earlier in the year, I popped down there for a late winter getaway, staying in the seaside town of Apollo Bay. With the beaches out of play, I split my focus between revisiting the famous landmarks along the Great Ocean Road like the 12 Apostles, and heading along the various nature walks and waterfall trails hidden in the dense rainforest of the Great Otway National Park. Highlights not to miss include: 🌊 the secluded views of Beauchamp Falls and Hopetoun Falls 🌊 following the crumbling cliffs at Loch Ard Gorge 🌊 driving up to Marriner's Lookout for its coastal views #seeaustralia #visitvictoria #travelsewhere #waterfall #traveladventures #outdoors #otways #greatoceanroad #nikonphotography

Visiting All Four UNESCO Medieval Monuments in Kosovo

This group of landmarks and their World Heritage status is actually intimately tied up in Kosovo’s past conflicts. It’s no coincidence that UNESCO made the Medieval Monuments in Kosovo a World Heritage site in 2004. It’s fair to say that the Decani Monastery is probably the best restored of the Medieval Monuments in Kosovo. From the station it’s closer to walk to the church than it is the city’s historical centre.

An Easy Guide to Sightseeing in Larnaca, Cyprus

The historical centre of the city, centring on the Church of Saint Lazarus, doesn’t really look or feel like an “old town”. Running right along the waterfront of Larnaca’s city centre you’ll find Finikoudes Beach. After the Church of Saint Lazarus, the most impressive place to visit in Larnaca has to be the city’s seaside fort. What’s remarkable is that you can actually visit ruins of Kition in the city’s north.
