Review: Groove Life Belt

Groove Life currently have 27 different webbing and belt fascia plate options, including camouflage and woodgrain. The rucksack buckle sat happily right on top of the flat Groove buckle. The Groove  Belt is a bit fiddly to initially set up due to the snug fit of the webbing into the buckle, but this is once-off adjustment. The Groove Belt can be purchased online direct from Groove Life.

Review: Arc'teryx Atom LT Hoody

The attention to detail on this jacket like most Arc’teryx clothing is perfect, the logo is well stitched, and the soft lining and smooth exterior make the jacket feel great. The outside of the Arc’teryx Atom LT is coated in a DWR layer (Durable Water Repellent), which allows water to bead and shed off the jacket without being absorbed. I really enjoy the excellent mobility in the Arc’teryx jackets and the Atom LT was no different to others I’ve tested, it provides a great range of mobility in the shoulders and neck, with or without the hood on. Overall, for an insulating layer in the cold, the Arc’teryx Atom LT is great, like most Arc’teryx clothing lines it

Review: Ottie Men's Merino T-shirt

Melbourne based Ottie take quality Australian grown, ethical (cruelty-free), superfine merino wool and turn it into a t-shirt which hikers world over routinely use as a base layer – for good reason. it’s warm for its weight, feels great against the skin (wool was scratchy when I was a kid but genetic selection has allowed growers to get to superfine levels in commercial quantities), and the best quality of all is that you can wear this for days at it won’t stink – In cold conditions when you’re around camp, you can’t afford to lose that warm trapped air layer around your body that the base layer is there for, so for me that reduces the functionality. I should have selected a small as the sizing and the relaxed fit meant it wasn’t snug against the body and the high winds we experienced made the tee flap a bit which lost some heat when I stopped moving, but then again I haven’t been a small since high school.
