Highlights

Looks like this weekend in Laguna Beach is going to be pretty dreary so here’s a reminder that rainbows arrive after the rain. 🌈

Most of us struggle with buildup around certain areas of our face! I’m not ashamed to admit my nose and chin are my problem areas. Monthly Diamond Glow treatments have cleared up my skin and given me so much more confidence. This device uses suction to extract impurities, while exfoliating with a diamond tip, AND delivering a serum to rejuvenate my skin. It’s a gentle procedure that leaves me glowing! ✨ Thank you @dermacaremedicalspa for treating me like a princess! 💁🏼‍♀️👑

Friendly reminder that spring is only 25 days away! Who else is excited?! 🌼🌼🌼 #springtimeflowers #springisintheair #springequinox #ostara #beachvibe #livelagunabeach #welovelagunabeach #californiadreams

Jedidiah Coffee had their ribbon cutting last week and it felt like all of Laguna Beach was there! People filled up their large patio and spilled onto the sidewalks to join the celebration. What a perfect evening supporting my friends and seeing their dreams (and hard work) come to fruition. Next time you’re walking Heisler Park or find yourself in North Laguna, visit @jedidiahcoffee on PCH and Jasmine! ☕️🌴

Did you know that before you were born and even before your great, great grandparents MOVED here... the land of Laguna Beach was lived on by people called the Achachemen, Juaneno, Gabrielino, and Tongva/Kizh? These indigenous people had a beautiful way of viewing the world. They did not see humans as the apex of creation, but rather as one strand in a web of life. They lived in harmony with the land. Food and resources were abundant. They made wooden plank boats to traverse the ocean and they spoke a Uto-Aztecan language. They had a strong respect for their ancestors and they treated the land and water as sacred. Unfortunately when Mission San Gabriel was built by Christian missionary Junipero Serra in 1771, their way of life and their culture was destroyed. The indigenous people were unwillingly removed from their homeland and even forced into slavery around Southern California. The fact that so many people are NOT taught anything like this in school leaves me with a heavy heart. Take this as a reminder to be grateful for where we live. We are on sacred land. Visited a friend in Blue Lagoon, just south of Victoria Beach. The waves crash up to the second floor! Would you live this close to the water? 🌊 #lagunabeachlife #lagunabeachcommunity #lagunalocals #welovelagunabeach

I’ve branded myself in a very specific way as @kristinbytheocean and whenever I share anything non Laguna Beach related, those posts flop because of an unfair algorithm. On top of that, I’m fearful of being deemed unprofessional if I share anything too intimate or personal. I love this account but I don’t really have the freedom to post everything I want. Soooo… I’ve renamed my first IG account (from 2011!) to @WILD.SUNBEAMS and you can find me there sharing NON Laguna Beach things and whatever the f*ck I want! 😅 PS - Read the next slide!!! My friend literally spoke the words on my mind when she sent me that message. 🥰🥰🥰 Also, THAT IS THE ENERGY I’M CALLING INTO MY LIFE THIS YEAR. Where are my fellow hype girls!? Let’s support each other and shine brighter together!!!

Happy 2024! Wishing everybody a year full of love and abundance.✨ Love, Kristin and Brandon

EVEN *MORE* FACTS ABOUT LAGUNA BEACH! You guys have been loving my “facts” posts so much that I decided to write up a 3rd one! 🌴 Laguna Beach’s population is a mere 23k and hasn’t grown much since the 1990’s. The largest spike in population occurred in the 1960’s and 1970’s. 🌴 Speaking of numbers… our city receives a supposed 6 MILLION visitors every year. Although that number is questioned by some due to traffic, parking, and the literal hotel space it would take to accommodate that many people. (source: https://underlaguna.com/business/lagunas-6-million-fake-tourists/) 🌴 Let’s talk about Laguna’s gay history that many seem to want to forget. In 1982 the city elected its first gay mayor, Bob Gentry. We used to have many popular gay bars, like Dante’s, Barefoot, and the Boom Boom Room. West Street Beach was an unofficial safe space for gays and the city recently painted the lifeguard tower in rainbow colors to recognize this demographic. 🙌 🌴 Laguna Beach is such a beautiful place thanks to organizations that help preserve our natural geography and wildlife. Some of these major contributing groups are @lagunagreenbelt, @lagunacanyonfoundation and @lagunaoceanfoundation. Follow them! 🌴 In March 2023 the city of Laguna Beach acquired control of Aliso Beach, which was formerly ran by the county of Orange. Leave me comments if you’d like a FOURTH facts post! 🐚☀️🪸🌊🏄🏻‍♀️🦀🌴🏖️

5 MORE FACTS ABOUT LAGUNA BEACH! 🌴 A lot of people miss Taco Bell in town but I bet you didn’t know that Taco Bell CEO Brian Niccol lived in Emerald Bay until 2015 when he sold his home for 3.4 million. 🌴 The Laguna Canyon area was named ‘Cañada de las Lagunas’ on an 1841 Mexican land grant map, which translates to Canyon of the Lagoons. 🌴 State mandate requires the city of Laguna Beach to implement approximately 277 low income dwellings by 2029. City Council recently gave the OK for a building height increase in the downtown area in preparation for these changes. 🌴 In the 60’s and 70’s Laguna Beach was a hot gathering spot for hippies, artists, and surfers who were seeking enlightenment. Yes, with the help of LSD. Watch the documentary Orange Sunshine! Some people may even remember the shop and art gallery called Mystic Arts World. 🌴 I’ve posted many times about Laguna Beach’s 3 sister cities because I think the idea is so cool! Established in 2008, the sister cities foster cultural and educational relationships with each other. Our sisters are: Menton, France St. Ives, England San Jose del Cabo, Mexico

Happy Birthday to this freakin wonderful man of mine. 10 slides isn’t enough to show all the facets of you that I love! You’re my ride or die. My adventure parter. My favorite dinner date. My biggest supporter. A caring cat daddy, a badass free diver, a passionate golfer, and a genuine friend who listens to me and lifts me up constantly. Some days I can hardly believe the way the Universe brought us together. You are my favorite human and I am SO happy to be living this life with you! Cheers to another year of growing together. I love you @b_bythe_sea. ❤️‍🔥

5 FUN FACTS ABOUT LAGUNA BEACH: 🌴 The birds didn’t always own Bird Rock! There used to be a pier that stretched over Bird Rock in north Laguna Beach until 1939 when it collapsed from a series of storms. 🌴 Speaking of piers, Laguna used to have 3! The one mentioned above at Heisler Park, one at Three Arch Bay, and one at Aliso Beach. They all crumbled so I guess we weren’t meant to have a pier in town. 🌴 The little “lighthouse” tower on the hill when entering Laguna from the canyon was actually a sewer vent! Such a cute structure for such an unsavory purpose. 🌴 The people who lived here before we did (and before our great great grandparents) were called the Tongva, Acjachemen, and Juaneno. Sadly in the 1770’s these native people were driven out and even enslaved by settlers, destroying their way of life and culture. 🌴 Laguna Beach is a Marine Protected Area. That’s why we have such lush tide pools, beautiful kelp forests, and happy sea life! #lagunabeachguide #lagunabeachlife #explorelagunabeach #mylagunabeach #welovelagunabeach #allthingslagunabeach

I gathered the girls for a night of trivia and even Beverly the pup had a blast. Did you know @lagunabeercompany hosts trivia on Tuesdays? It’s something fun and different to go do! This brand is now 90% of my skincare regimen! • Kristin By The Ocean

This isn’t the first time I have mentioned Shine Skincare Co. and it wo The mask dried in about 15 minutes, going from dark to light; which let’s you know that it’s time to wash it off. The Antioxidant Body Wash smells a little fruity and the Antioxidant Body Lotion smells faintly like damp grass. and if you’re ready to start feeling good about what you use on your body, you need to check out their products!

Enchant your senses with luxurious Austin Press candles! • Kristin By The Ocean

My boyfriend bought me this Austin Press candle over a year ago from a local boutique. I couldn’t tell you how many I’ve bought and burned through since then because I’m OBSESSED with the scent! Inside, each candle comes with a story card that describes the scent in such enchanting detail that you feel yourself being transported to another world. the reason I asked if you ever wished you could wear a candle scent as a perfume is because I was browsing their website and saw they had PERFUME OILS of their candle scents!
