Bringing the vibrant flavors of South Africa straight to my kitchen with a grocery haul from @hyperamalekkerca ! Did you know they've also got a restaurant in-store, where you can try some authentic halal South African cuisine. If you know me, you know that every single trip I go starts with a mandatory stop at the supermarket. From the aromatic spices that transport me to bustling marketplaces, to the diverse array of grains and pulses that speak of centuries-old traditions, every item tells a story. I'm not just stocking up for Ramadan, but immersing myself in the rich tapestry of flavors and ingredients that make this season truly special. I'm met with a delightful array of ingredients that paint a vivid picture of diversity and tradition. I'm curating an experience that celebrates the cultural mosaic of our community. Here's to embracing the richness and beauty of our differences, as we prepare for a blessed Ramadan ahead. I spent my Ramadan abroad last year. This year, I'm exploring the melting pot of South Africa and its unique flavours without ever leaving home! My supermarket haul is my passport to a culinary journey this month. Want to know the special taste that these products can add to your meals? • South Africa is well-known for their famous barbecue, locally called Braai. I highly recommend trying their sauce for a special iftar. • They've also got a wide selection of iconic cereals to choose from, rich in fibre and protein. Weet-Bix is South Africa's number one selling breakfast cereal and the one I grew up eating. My favourite to date! • Don't forget to grab one of their milkshake syrups, the perfect way to cool down after taraweeh this Ramadan. You can also find marinated and unmarinated meat in store. Have you visited this spot yet? Support local and try something new. ***** #ad #southafricansupermarket #hyperama #halal #mississauga

Savor every bite of traditional dishes crafted with love and authenticity. Each dish was a masterpiece, meticulously crafted to capture the essence of satisfaction for every palate. 📍 Saraya Restaurant 3465 Platinum Dr, Mississauga, ON Thank you for having me @yasmarketing.ca & @foodiliciousmuslimmom Which item would you try first? ***** Keep it humble & spread ❤️

Get a taste of local island traditions and communi-TEA, when in the Maldives. You have not experienced the Maldives until you've got a taste of their daily traditions. Did you know that Maldivians typically have afternoon tea and "hedhikaa" (means 'short eats'). These typically tend to be a mix of different snacks. From my experience, I found it to be filing enough to skip dinner afterwards. Some of the items you can typically expect to find include: • Bajiyaa: a Maldivian twist to samosa, filled with spicy-sweet tuna mix. • Masroshi:  a flatbread with a mixture of tuna, onion and grated coconut. • Gulha: fried dough balls filled with spices and fish. While savoury items are more popular for afternoon tea, some places also offer sweet treats, usually made with coconut. Hedhikaa is offered at some restaurants and hotels. However, it is a symbol of hospitality for Maldivians, as locals often love to have visitors in their homes for the “Haveeru Sai” (Evening Tea). Ensure to add this experience to your next trip to the Maldives, specifically between 4-6 pm! Unlike the high tea experiences you can find in other parts of the world, an evening tea experience in the Maldives is very affordable if you opt in for the authentic local experience or support one of the small cafés on the local islands (instead of big hotel chains). ***** Keep it humble & spread ❤️

Do you ever sign up for cooking classes when traveling? I personally love hands-on experiences and activities that allow me to learn new skills. What I love about cooking classes is that they're a great way to get educated about culture and traditions, while also getting a taste of the food. On our recent trip to Mexico, we opted in for a tortilla making class and got the opportunity to interact with locals. The best part was that the class was at someone's house, hence we got to give back to the local community first hand. We met the elders of the family, who passed down their recipe from previous generations to us and shared their stories. We ended the class with a authentic homemade lunch buffet. ***** Keep it humble & spread ❤️

The café scene in Korea is unmatched. Whenever I travel, I often skip meals. However, my trip to Korea quickly turned into a culinary trip when I started visiting the cafés. I fell in love with every single place we visited. One of the cafés that stood out is @cafe_delmoondo ! It is in Jeju, located right on Hamdeok Beach. Expect to find a breathtaking view of the beach and the blue waters, along with some of the best peanut drinks and pastries you can find on the island. Coming across this memory brought the taste of the sweet treats back in my mouth. I recommend coming early as it can get quite busy. Stay tuned for a full blog post detailing all the cafés we visited on our two-week trip to Korea. In the meantime, you can find my guide to halal food in Korea on my website. What is your favorite kind of café? ***** Keep it humble & spread ❤️

A little throwback to a games day party I hosted last January. Given my crazy busy schedule, I barely have enough time to spend with loved ones. A year later, as I'm currently writing my next blog post, I reflected on one of the biggest lessons I was reminded of on my latest trip; that every moment in life is worth celebrating. One of the greatest joy in life comes from spreading kindness and love to others, and building a strong community, despite our differences. It's funny to think that I had the exact same thought a year ago, which prompted me to host a games day in the first place. We had an international spread, with alfajores from Argentina, sweet treats from Mauritius, chocolates bought from my layovers in Switzerland and of course, the best tiramisu cake from @frenchcornerpatisserie. No party is complete without a Moroccan touch, so we had some tajine and couscous, along with butter chicken and a baked sushi made by @jvllrmn (I'm still waiting for you to make another one for me). Most of my friends who attended hadn't met before, and it was great to see how strangers can so easily connect over a great time, with good food and lots of games that helped break the ice. Some games we played included: ABC (but backwards), Taste the World, Test of Time, Trivia (I'm huge on trivia, so of course I had to include that!) and Name, Place, Animal, Thing. Looking for a place that's open late and serves light bites, drinks and desserts? Look no further. @after88.ca you can satisfy your sweet tooth, while you sit back, relax and hang out. The space created in the lounge is cozy and inviting. Though their selection of mocktails is one you can't miss, you will also find desserts and sandwiches on their menu. If you are into shisha, you will find that here as well. Here's everything we tried: • Basterma Sandwich • Chai Latte • Mango Cake • Lotus Cheesecake • Crepe 88 📍 2340 Council Ring Rd unit 104, Mississauga, ON L5L 1C1, Canada ***** Keep it humble & spread ❤️

It takes very little to be happy in life, the secret is to know where to find it. Let me explain. The other day, I was at the airport and I found an elderly woman standing in the middle. From afar, I could see she was enjoying live music. She seemed to be traveling alone, and something as simple as live music brought her so much happiness. She stood there for an hour, and cheered them on after every song. She was so excited and happy, that it got me thinking how simple life is and how a small token of appreciation for the things and people around us, can make all the difference. Looking back at some highlights from my trips to Morocco this year, I realized that whether I spend less than 24 hours, or more than 10 days in one place, the destination is not what brings me the most happiness, it's the presence of others that makes all the difference. ***** Keep it humble & spread ❤️
