#ad What many of you don't know is that I started out in politics as a foot soldier in the conservative movement more than 20 years ago. I was recruited in college and trained by the Conservative Leadership Group and attended CPAC and fundraising dinners while rubbing shoulders with emerging leaders like Dinesh D'Souza and Tucker Carlson. This youthful naivety was shattered when I was told during a pre-interview for a position on the Hill that I "had to pick a team and play for it." See, for me, politics was fun. I had equal enthusiasm for discussing Randian philosophy and gun rights as I did supporting tolerance for supporting issues like minority rights and environmental efforts. In fact, I was even a regular at rallies for Governor Dean much to the chagrin of some of my conservative associates. Today though, there seems to be no middle ground. There's no space for talking about ideas across political lines and that's a shame. There's too much pandering by politicians looking to get re-elected rather than helping the people in their districts and I'm tired of it. We need to work together to stop this divide and it starts today. Reach out to your friends and try to understand where they come from. Most of them aren't bad people ... they just have a different understanding of important things. I work hard and I employ people, so let's focus on what unifies us so I can get back to enjoying the things that make this country great like tacos and craft beer. We can all agree to that ... right? We're excited about #MSCWorldAmerica which is launching next April sailing out of Miami - because along with bigship themepark experiences like CLIFFHANGER you can book a suite in the #MSCYachtClub and get a small ship experience too. Which style of cruising do you prefer? This was posted in partnership with @msccruises.us to possibly win a #giveaway but seriously to heck with disclosure ... we really are excited and had a great time on #MSCSeaShore in 2021, and we can't wait to sail with them again soon! #msccruises #msccrociere #msccruisesofficial #msccruisesusa #mscworldeuropa #msccliffhanger #cruiseship #cruiselife #cruiselover #cruiseaddict #cruisetime #cruisetravel
Heather @heathermhills and I went out to Port Clinton, OH today for the eclipse and it was amazing. For those of you who think beaches are limited to the coasts ... they've got great sandy beaches, beach bars etc here too :). Anyhow, you've probably seen thousands of pics of the eclipse corona but what really blew us away was how fast it went from dark to light again. It is truly a magical experience that is better experienced in person than I could ever capture on the camera. @shoresandislands @ohiotheheartofitall #portclinton #portclintonohio #eclipse #eclipsesolar #solareclipse #solareclipse2024 #ohiophotographer
It's been a year this week since we've been in Toledo instead of our old home in San Diego or our new home in Michigan but I'm greatful that Jim is still with us and I'm excited that we're starting to put our lives back together. As we were driving back from IKEA last night in our amazingly fun to drive @mazdausa CX-90 media loaner, the road ahead looked grim ... but the view behind us was a brilliant sunset. That seemed appropriate as a reminder of just how different something can be, depending on your perspective. Today ... after the darkness, we have a stunningly beautiful day in northwest Ohio, and that's sorta of how life goes. So ... for those of you facing depression or uncertainty in life, be open to looking in other directions, change your viewpoint, and if you're unable to do that ... allow friends and family that are around you to help. Mental health is important and sometimes we all need a bit of support. If you do ... please 🙏 🙏 🙏 reach out. I'll try to help however I can. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthsupport #sunset #sunsetlovers #sunsets #sunsetphotography #sunset_pics #michigan #michiganders #michigrammers #ohio #ohiophotographer
Let's talk about companies forcing a "Made With AI" label on things ... where's the line? Sure, if all I do is a one-click random image or blog post that's pretty cut and dried easy to delineate... but what if I take a concept, research it using AI-powered computer algorithms (search engines), type it on my computer with (AI-powered auto-complete), edit with Grammarly (AI-powered), and then use a spell checker (AI-powered) in my browser before publishing? Is that not also "AI-assisted" and therefore somehow "tainted" ? Oh and of course, if you use Hootsuite or some scheduling system to find the best time to post on social media or any of the filters in Photoshop etc. then that qualifies as AI-assisted too. Let's look at the MASSIVE SPACE between those two extremes ... let's say I have an idea, create an outline, put it into Zimmwriter or some other generative AI tool, scape some sources, edit the results sit pulls, let it do its thing using custom prompts that I created, custom styles from my content that I created, and other configuration settings that I created ... and then I spend time editing it before publishing. Is that somehow "tainted" and not as good as if I hired a person from overseas (or even domestically) to do the article and then edited it? From a quality perspective, what I just produced is better quality, more original to my human intellect, and likely more helpful to the reader. In fact ... the money saved allows me to sometimes hire human experts to do a final pass on complicated topics that are beyond my core expertise. So then why should that superior content be labeled as "AI" by FB and MSN and likely put into a ghetto along with deepfakes of politicians and memes? I feel like ultimately this is gun control all over again where "only criminals will have guns" is the argument. The reality is AI has been here and will be here for the rest of history. It's a tool and we need to learn to use it properly as well as have common sense to realize what is or isn't real. Deceptive content and shit content are different issues! Or are we just being modern ludites getting our sabots ready to toss into the machine at the edge of a transformational period that will make the industrial revolution look like a minor blip in human history.
Latest Post: What To Do When You Have The Flu inter is usually cold and flu season but it seems like during the spring a bunch of my friends get "colds" ... these are often simply alergies masquerading as a cold or the flu but either way, it sucks to get sick. Unfortunately, too many men ignore the early signs and this leads to it getting worse. Others such as one of my friends who came back from a weekend getaway with some of his friends has made multiple shopping trips to get groceries and medicine ... exposing others to whatever he might have picked up. Let's face it, us guys can be pretty dumb when it comes to being sick so I thought this might be a great opportunity to share some advice to help recover more quickly while also helping to prevent spreading things to those folks around you! Latest Post: Move Over Napa - DAOU Vineyards Is Home To My New Favorite Cabernet Sauvignon Wines I am always on the lookout for unique wines from different regions of the country. In fact, this is somewhat of an obsession for me to the point where I would often pass an opportunity to try something that the "wine snobs" rave about to try something more unique from a lesser-known wine region. While I have a deep appreciation for classics from the world's renowned wine regions like Napa and Bordeaux, there's something truly exciting about discovering new expressions of wine in less traditional locales. One of my absolute favorite places to visit for California wines is Paso Robles and while it is hardly a secret for Calfiornia wine enthusiasts ... it is still off the radar for many folks back east who only think of Napa when it comes to fine California wines. Well ... guess what ... I have a new favorite source for the best California cabs ... DAOU Vineyards' Cabernet Sauvignon has stolen my heart! Read more ... -> What do you guys think?
Latest Post: Laifen Wave: The Toothbrush For Gadget Geeks I both love and hate the Laifen Wave toothbrush that they sent me to review. On one hand, it is technically superior to the high-end toothbrushes that sit on my bathroom counter from brands like Oral-B and Philips Sonicare. On the other hand, it just feels like exactly what it is - a sub $100 product bridging the gap between the tech world and the tried and true oral care market. With that being said, this really isn't a problem or a criticism. At this price point (currently $69.99), it makes for an excellent product that I can keep in my backpack and if I leave it behind at a hotel somewhere, it isn't that big of a deal compared to my $200+ toothbrush I use currently. Latest Post: Medical Industry Jobs You Can Do While Working Your Way Through Med School Medical school is a challenge even for the smartest folks with plenty of money.
