If you're anything like me you dream of traveling. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But if you're anything like your girl, you also want to reduce your impact and stay on a budget. For one, who has the money to travel all the time?? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One benefit of slow travel is that you make money while you're traveling. That means you get the chance to explore more and spend less. Who the heck doesn't love THAT idea? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can make money while traveling by being a digital nomad (working online, remotely); doing seasonal work; being a traveling professional (like nursing); or anything else you choose if you're creative enough. The options are nearly endless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Where is your dream destination? 👇🏼

The idea that "everything is connected" might sound hokey to you - but it's scientific fact. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In nature, everything from the smallest microbe to the largest tree 🌳 plays a role in the web that is the environment. Human beings too are part of that web.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If we tug on one string in the web, other strings are affected. As part of this process, humans can be drastically affected when the web starts to unravel. 😨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That's why it's so important that we preserve biodiversity🦦, maintain habitats🏞, fight for endangered species🦧, and stop invasive ones🙅🏻‍♀️.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Functioning ecosystems provide us with many different services. The next time you're out on a hike, or walking through your neighborhood, think about what the natural world brings you: fresh air, food, shade, entertainment.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now think about what would happen if that was gone.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tell me 👇🏼 What has the Earth done for you today?

Hey fam, anyone else here a caffeine addict? 🙈⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On a mountain, on vacation, in my backyard - doesn’t matter. Just call me Gollum with his Precious because I need that sweet life-giving juice. Feel me? 😂⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ...but coffee can be so environmentally damaging, not to mention unethical. 🤯 What's a girl to do? The things you love shouldn’t actively destroy the planet, right?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Obv. That’s why I’m so pumped to introduce you to @Wilderness_Coffee. They are 300% carbon negative, minimally packaged, AND they plant a tree for every bag purchased. 🌳 Three Hundred Percent FOLKS!! 😭⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The bad news is that Wilderness Coffee is absolutely delicious, so you're going to start having opinions on coffee roasters now. If you thought coffee was SUPPOSED to be bitter, I've got a revelation for you. We’re talking: ditch the sugary b.s., drink this baby BLACK it tastes so good. Zero bitterness, all the flavor. Going back to the regular stuff after this is going to be hard, I'm sorry. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the plus side, if you head to my link in bio 👆🏼 to get yourself some of this guilt-free, tasty, and ethical go-go-juice, you can get yourself a FREE sample pack. 🙌🏼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nothing is better than free, right? You’re welcome 😉

I have a confession. 🙈 I'm not always the teacher. Shocker!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yes, I consider myself an expert in sustainability. 👩🏻‍🏫I teach others how to travel wisely, ethically, and thoughtfully. I teach others how to live consciously, environmentally-focused, and adventurously.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, I never stop learning. No one ever should! I constantly learn from others in my space. I invite you to do so as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌱There are some names in the Sustainability/Eco field that I still learn from today, on all sorts of platforms. 🌱⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are three Insta accounts that if you're not following yet, you frickin' should be:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @heyashleyrenne⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @sunchasingtravelers⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @onceuponasaga⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who in your field do you learn from daily? Who inspires you? Drop me a comment and let me know so that I can learn, too! 👇🏼

According to a study by the PEW Trust, ocean plastic pollution is set to double by 2040. 😰⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Next time you're out hiking, biking, climbing, kayaking, or simply walking in nature think about that fact. Even if you live nowhere near the ocean, consider your impact. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Together we can avoid this dire future - but we need to act. 👏🏼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ways you can stop plastic pollution include (but aren’t limited to!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👆🏼Stop buying fast fashion - the clothes themselves made to be replaced, so they wear out and end up in our landfills and oceans. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏼Invest in zero-waste products. Even as something as simple as utilizing reusable bags goes a long way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🙌🏼 recycle! Contact your city and tell them you support increasing recycling efforts⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🙏🏼Clean up litter. Support initiatives like @tenlittlepieces or organize a community Stream Clean and rehab your local waterways. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ All water leads to the ocean, and all of your litter ends up there too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ How are you doing your part to keep the world clean? 👇🏼

Respect it.

Happy National Coming Out Day!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Every year on this day I helpfully remind my friends, family, and followers what a bisexual woman looks like: ME. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Not only does bisexuality exist, but it doesn't stop existing just because someone is in a straight-presenting relationship. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's important to recognize the contributions of all people to this beautiful world. Never forget that the outdoors are meant for all people - gay, straight, trans, bi, black, white, Hispanic, whatever. ALL of us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ May we never stop fighting for greater diversity, equality, inclusivity, and acceptance for people of ALL color, gender, and orientation. Never forget Stonewall, PULSE, Matthew Sheppard, and our trans-brothers and sisters who have died needlessly because of the hate of others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How do you celebrate #NationalComingOutDay, fam?

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕣𝕠𝕒𝕕 𝕥𝕠 𝕗𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕕𝕠𝕞 𝕚𝕤 𝕓𝕠𝕣𝕕𝕖𝕣𝕖𝕕 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕤𝕦𝕟𝕗𝕝𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕤- 𝕄𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕚𝕟 𝔽𝕚𝕣𝕣𝕖𝕝𝕝 ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of the things I love the most about foraging is the freedom it gives. Freedom from money, convention, and the question "Can I feed myself this week?". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Que sunflowers. Sunflowers can be a great source of food at any time of the year, and easily identifiable for most. Who here can't recognize a sunflower?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍃 Dry the young leaves and make yourself a sunflower tea. Or use the leaves like spinach. Sunflower leaf chips, anyone? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🎋 Stalks are a great celery substitute when young (think: crunchy and great with hummus!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌱 Sunflower sprouts are delightful and make an amazing pesto. We grow ours from seed in microgreen trays. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The petals of the flower are a great addition to salads and add a lovely bittersweet flavor. Plus they're pretty! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Be sure that you are selecting sunflowers that aren't blooming in contaminated soil. Sunflowers are great bio accumulators, which means they will easily take up heavy metals and toxins from soil. So don't eat ones grown near old gas stations, for example. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you missed it before, head to my link in bio for a blog post on a different kind of forged food.

What's one thing you love about fall? Mine is...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mushroom Foraging! Fall is an amazing season for mushrooms of all kinds, many of which are easily identifiable for the beginning forager. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You all responded so adamantly to my story about Pheasant Back Mushrooms that I went ahead and wrote a blog about it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Check my link in bio for an Ultimate Guide on Pheasant Back Foraging - including a recipe round up.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Happy hunting y'all!
