What I’ve learnt after writing & publishing 2 books 🍒 Following the release of my second book and as I begin working on my third, I’ve been thinking a lot more about this little hobby of mine. The initial “goal” was always just to publish one book. To be able to consolidate my work into one place and tell a story, and that’s exactly what I did with Verdigris. I always looked at it and treated it as a one and done goal. Because of that, I put a lot of pressure on myself for that first book. How many I would sell, what people would think, nervous about looking stupid. I felt like it was my one chance to do it, which is so wild. And honestly, it turned out to not be a very enjoyable process because I was still learning. I shouldn’t have worried about perfecting every single element involved in publishing a book at that point. I should have been worried about just doing the best I could as one person, and taking notes on how to improve next time around. But as I was working on releasing my second book, I understood how in love I am with the process, and I never wanted it to end. It’s so funny because “in love with my self-trust” is all about enjoying the process and to be honest, I think some of my emotions of anxiety I felt after publishing Verdigris inspired not only the words within this book, but the entire way I have approached it’s release as well. So whether you’re an author in the middle of your first or tenth book, take this as a reminder to enjoy the process ❤️🍒
